Description:
The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience in the College of Arts & Sciences at Baylor University invites applications for a Full-Time Lecturer faculty position beginning in August 2025. This appointment is a renewable full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure-track, teaching-focused position with a 6-year promotion path to Senior Lecturer for successful candidates and a 12-year promotion path to Teaching Professor for highly successful candidates (see Policy on Full-Time Lecturers, Senior Lecturers, and Teaching Professors at Baylor University).

We seek applicants with a strong interest and experience in teaching psychology courses at the undergraduate level. We seek a creative, engaging, and collaborative colleague who will contribute positively to the department's culture of innovative teaching, student-centered mentoring, and dedicated service to our undergraduate programs. Candidates should be able to teach multiple courses across the undergraduate Psychology curriculum.

The department offers undergraduate degrees in psychology and neuroscience, serves about 1,000 undergraduate majors, and has two doctoral programs. Baylor University and the department prioritize cultivating faculty success at all levels and supporting professional excellence through faculty development programs offered by the Academy for Teaching and Learning.

The department has a long history of teaching excellence, with numerous faculty members recognized at the University, national, and international levels for outstanding teaching and mentoring. Our teaching-focused faculty are well-integrated into the department. In addition, numerous teaching-focused faculty have risen to prominent leadership positions such as undergraduate program director, faculty senators, and service on departmental and university-wide steering committees. We have demonstrated a sustained commitment to fostering an academic environment that promotes the success of students from diverse backgrounds, with teaching-focused faculty playing critical roles in these efforts.

Qualifications:
  • A doctoral degree in psychology or a closely related field is required by the time of appointment.
  • A documented history of teaching effectiveness.
